SmartWalkTours wasn’t born in a boardroom — it started on the move, navigating early GPS-like technology near the Kuwaiti border during Desert Storm. Back then, we used our maps, our orienteering skills, and a device that used cell tower intersection / triangulation to assist. Not as precise as today's technology, but enough to get us where it mattered!
Founded by a U.S. Army veteran and lifelong traveler (met his wife in Paris, proposed in Venice on a gondola!) who’s lived through the 1964 Anchorage Alaska earthquake, desert artillery missions, and years of wandering cities big and small — sometimes with maps, sometimes just instinct and curiosity.
After countless adventures and questions like “Now that we’re here, what is there to see…to do?”, SmartWalkTours was created to help explorers truly experience their destination on foot — without the rush, the crowds, or endless web searches.
