Frequently Asked Questions

Short, clear answers to help you start walking.

What makes SmartWalkTours unique?
Engaging stories, a clean map, and a Virtual Tour Guide that offers narration at each stop and answers to Common Questions (tap to hear/read).

No buses, no rush. Rather than cramped buses, tight schedules, or straining to hear a guide, our virtual guides follow your pace. Stroll, shop, browse, pause for lunch, or linger for a drink. Our tours fit your schedule; you don’t have to fit ours.

Do I need Wi-Fi?
No. Any regular web or data signal works fine. Wi-Fi is optional.
Do I need constant connectivity?
SmartWalkTours requires web page access. If your device can open a web page (via mobile data or Wi-Fi), you can open the tour. Some items may cache briefly, but plan on having a working web/data signal while you explore.
How long does my access last?
30 days from purchase. You can reopen the tour anytime during that window using the same access email link.
What does the blue line mean on the map?
The blue line is a suggested walking path to help with big-picture orientation between stops. It is not turn-by-turn navigation. For details, see our Path & Map Tips.
Will SmartWalkTours drain my phone?
No. SmartWalkTours is designed to be lightweight — just maps, audio, and text. Most visitors finish a tour with normal battery use. It uses far less power than turn-by-turn navigation or video streaming apps.
Does GPS Auto-Location affect battery life?
A little. Turning on GPS Auto-Location uses more battery than leaving it off because your device checks its position more often. Even with Auto-Location on, SmartWalkTours remains far lighter than full navigation apps. If you’re touring for several hours, starting with a good charge is simply a smart idea.
How does the Virtual Tour Guide work?
You can opt to have the tour guide narrate the detailed information at every Point of Interest. At each stop, you’ll also see a short list of Common Questions. Tap one to hear or read the guide’s response.
Traveling internationally?
Consider a low-cost prepaid travel pass/eSIM (7–30 days) to keep data predictable. Otherwise, keep Data Roaming off and use Wi-Fi when convenient. Remember, you are responsible for any charges from your provider.
Which devices and browsers are supported?
Modern iOS and Android devices with recent Safari or Chrome (Edge/Firefox also work). Keep your OS and browser updated for the best GPS accuracy, smooth audio playback, and map performance.
Safety tips
Stay aware of your surroundings and avoid walking while looking down at your phone. Prefer well-traveled, well-lit routes, especially after dark. Obey local signs and traffic signals.
Will I get a receipt?
Yes — Stripe emails your receipt automatically after purchase.
Can I get a refund?
Digital goods are non-refundable. If you run into issues, email support@smartwalktours.com and we’ll help restore access during your 30-day window.
